Welcome

The Malthouse Rest Home is a Grade 2 listed building and is situated in the county town of Hertford, Hertfordshire. Set within a town centre site, the former maltings, is located off a quiet cul-de-sac adjacent to the busy shopping centre of Hertford. The building was originally constructed in the 1840’s as a maltings and continued throughout its history providing different uses until its recent conversion to a Residential Care Home.

Entering residential care can be an anxious and sometimes traumatic time. At the Malthouse we aim to minimise that possible anxiety with support to provide a new and welcoming home. Many of the things that may have been enjoyed at home may be available at the Malthouse. You may wish to attend a religious service at your own church or participate in a periodic religious service in the home. Telephones lines are available to each bedroom. In addition there is a pay phone close to the office.

Personal care

When you live at the Malthouse there is always someone on hand to assist you in your daily needs. We will assist the resident in their strengths and possible weaknesses to maximise their lifestyle. Every endeavour will be undertaken to reduce any potential risks with your care and environment.

Peace of mind

In the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied with the level of service an easy and rapid complaints procedure exists. This information will be issued by the Manager at the Malthouse.

The Malthouse Rest Home is regulated under the Care Home Regulations 2001. All care homes are visited twice a year by the Commission for Social Care Inspection. This agency independently inspects and produces a report which is available for the public to view. These can either be viewed on their website ( CSCI.org.uk ) or by request at the office to the Malthouse.
